We scan what others can't see.
We measure what others estimate.
mapthis is the survey division of Dates Metron LLP — founded in 2021 to build India's own lidar hardware and software, and to use it on the measurements nobody else will take on completely.
Four divisions, one instrument stack.
Dates Metron designs the hardware, writes the software and runs the surveys. Most companies in this field do one of those three.
mapthis
This division. Specialised survey — tree counting and carbon, railway tunnels, underground drives and stopes, fibre trench depth.
Metron Tech Labs
3D SLAM lidar hardware, designed and manufactured in India. The MetronX family, including the backpack unit our crews carry.
Stockpile Volume
Drone-based volumetric measurement for mining and industry — coal, iron ore, cement, aluminium, ports and power plants.
Software
Metron Canopy, Metron Lode and Metron Align — the desktop applications our own surveys are processed in.
Group site: datesmetron.com
Built in India, from the sensor up.
2021 — founded
Dates Metron LLP starts in New Delhi, and launches India's first dedicated drone-based stockpile volume measurement platform.
2024 — our own sensor
The first indigenous 3D SLAM lidar devices ship. The MetronX family is designed and manufactured in India, works with RTK and is compatible with the CORS network of the Survey of India.
Now — the survey division
mapthis takes the hardware and the software out onto sites: forests, railway tunnels, underground workings and open pits, across India.
What we are not
mapthis does not do boundary survey, topographic survey or general instrument hire. Those are well served by firms who do them every day, and we would be the worse choice.
What we are
Every service replaces a sample or an assumption with a complete measurement. That is the test something has to pass before we take it on — and if an industry already measures a thing completely, we are not needed.
| Service | The usual answer | Ours |
|---|---|---|
| Tree counting & carbon | Sample plots, scaled up | Every stem counted and geo-tagged |
| Railway tunnel mapping | Setups every few tens of metres, stitched after | The whole bore in one continuous record |
| OFC trench depth | A tape dropped in here and there, then backfilled | Every metre measured, with the evidence |
| Drives & stopes | The shape it was designed to be | The void as actually mined |
We build the software our own surveys run on.
Not a reseller running someone else's package. When a result needs to answer a question the software cannot yet answer, we change the software.
Metron Canopy
Turns a lidar scan of a stand into a measured tree inventory — diameter, height, volume, crown and biomass, one row per tree, with the evidence behind each row still attached.
Metron Lode
Turns a walk-through of an underground heading into a posed, image-bearing survey: setup stations along the chainage, a 360° panorama at each, cross-sections down the drive.
Metron Align
Imports an underground scan, straightens it, meshes it watertight and reports the volume — with the share of surface that was actually measured stated beside it.
All three run offline on an ordinary Windows laptop. Nothing is uploaded to a cloud service.
Three habits that show up in every report
We say what we did not measure
A stope volume comes with the share of surface that had returns behind it. A tree count withholds stems too obscured to follow rather than estimating them. A section leaves a gap where the scan saw nothing.
We will talk you out of it
If a simpler method would answer your question, or the site is wrong for a carried instrument, we will say so in the first half hour rather than in month three.
The record outlives the survey
A scan is a permanent record of the site as it stood that day. It can be measured again later, for a question nobody had asked yet, without going back.
